THE ASCENT OF JESUS

An endearing, popular and emblematic procession of our Holy Week, whose route goes from the hermitage of San Ramón to the Parish Temple.

Two lines of men begin to form spontaneously around the image that, carried on the shoulders, begins this procession, during which the three falls that Jesus suffered on his way to Calvary are staged.

The Nazarene makes his entrance into the Plaza Mayor of the city to meet his mother, the Virgen de las Angustias, before the attentive gaze of a silent crowd.

After this emotional and brief meeting at the door of the Church, the parish priest gives the sermon; at the end of the sermon, a Roman soldier, as a crier, reads Pilate’s sentence, known as “The Proclamation of the Jew”, thus ending this first part.

resurrection sunday

Easter Sunday is the day of joy and hope, where we celebrate Christ’s victory over death. The procession goes through the streets among bells and songs of joy, reminding us that faith is reborn and life triumphs. It is the closing of a Holy Week full of emotion and devotion, which culminates with the most beautiful message: love and light always prevail.
